Zac's Letter: February 10, 2010

Dearest Family

How was it kicking Tyson to the curb at the MTC?  I still think it's a shame that you don't get to see the cheesy missionary movie and have the experience of parting ways like we had, haha!  Thanks for forwarding me Tyson's email.  It sounds like he's doing great, except for the comp thing.  That sure reminds me of my days with the Gash.  If Tyson's comp is already bugging him now he's in for a treat for the next 8 weeks.  In the MTC it isn't as big of a deal though because you are surrounded by other cool missionaries.

Thanks for the package!  How did you manage to track down a Platypus tie?!  Missionaries will go their whole missions without finding one of those prized gems.  Elder Blackett is extremely jealous of the little beauty that I now proudly display as often as occasion permits.

So first off I'll start with my transfer news.  I'm staying in Ankeny and Elder Blackett is getting transfered.  We kinda saw this one coming since we have already been together for two transfers but I'll still miss the big Alaskan.  All we know is that he gets on the transfer van in Des Moines tomorrow morning at 6:45 am and I pick up my new comp tomorrow evening in Des Moines at 7:30 pm.  So I get to spend the whole day tomorrow with the Des Moines zone leaders which should be a blast!  I'm now senior so we have deduced that my new comp is a new zone leader and we have some possibilities in mind but nothing's certain until tomorrow.

Things will be crazy with transfers for the next little bit but the area is picking up so I'm excited for what the next transfer has in store.  I also found out from a reliable source that Neal Ferrin is going to open up the Ames YSA so I'm way excited to have him in the zone.  Another interesting tid bit is that my boy, PRAZ, is training!  The Jergensen lineage lives on!

Our main investigators here are Riley (the girl we found while Tyson was here) and Karen (who is a new investigator).  We taught Riley yesterday and it went so well!  Right when we got there she informed us that she has already quit smoking and we haven't even taught her the Word of Wisdom yet!  We reviewed the restoration with her and I have a lot of faith that she'll get baptized.  She is coming to a church open house we have next week and then she'll come to church that week as well.

Karen is equally as promising.  She was a name we found in our area book that we really felt we should call.  We finally got to teach her this week and it was awesome!  She was taught about a year ago and told us she has really been feeling like she needed to get back into the church and then we called her a couple days later.  She wants to get baptized and she came to church with us Sunday and everything!  We should be setting a date with her here shortly.  Things are finally falling into place.

It's cool that Dad mentioned the experiences you guys have had with Priesthood blessings lately.  We had an experience like that last night.  We stopped in to see a member family and when we got there he let us in and said we were right in time.  Apparently the family has really been struggling lately.  He thinks he's about to loose his job and he is so concerned about how he is going to provide for his family.  He asked us for a blessing of comfort and it was an amazing experience.  Lately we have had so many experiences like this where we "just happen" to be in the right place at the right time.  It just is further testimony to me that this truly is the Lord's work and there is no such thing as a coincidence.

I love you all!

Love

Elder Jergensen (your favorite missionary)
