Hey Family!
How are things on the home front? So first off I really need Tyson's MTC address. You may have already given it to me but I don't know where it is. I definitely need to write that choncho a letter. It sounds like he could be blessed by my wise words of counsel. I can't believe his goober comp is busting out the senior card in the MTC! Haha! An MTC senior amounts to about a hill of beans. They pick the senior comp by alphabetical order! The Gash was senior to me in the MTC too but that doesn't really matter. I've found you just gotta be open with your comp and then if you can deal with conflicts in a humorous way that always helps as well. If all else fails Baby Tys should just read some D&C 121 with him and have a good talk about unrighteous dominion.
I also wanted to thank you guys for the zebra pens and the tie. The zebra pen is the only way to go as a missionary. I've been using those ever since the MTC because it is the only way to write down everything you need to in your planner. And the fast sunday tie is so sick! I busted it out at ZL council and everyone was pretty jealous.
As for BYU housing I have heard good things about Liberty Square so I'd say go for it. Just don't sign me up for a dorm because apparently that would make me a creeper. Me and Whiting were talking about getting a place with some other guys but most of them won't get home until I already have a semester or so in. So I figure I can change things up after the first year or whatever.
All that aside this past week was great! The transfer emphasis is on finding and it's what I really need. It's so easy to become a robot out here and say the same thing on every door but now I'm working on making every contact personal. Every person out here has needs, concerns and goals in life. Instead of saying a general statement I'm focusing on learning those things and then helping the person see how the restored gospel will help them in their life. I know that no matter who they are the restored gospel of Jesus Christ will bless their lives.
As a result we have a sweet new investigator named Cory who came to church yesterday. We were walking out of an appointment and talked to him outside. He invited us in his apartment and we had a lesson with him, that was Friday. We taught him again Saturday and then he came to church. He is a cool guy who wants to turn his life around and come closer to God.
He is one big dude though. He is like 6'3" and the size of an ox. He is just solid muscle. He has done some jail time but really wants to change. It's actually pretty funny because he is currently on house arrest so he had to leave church early or else he'd go back to jail if he got home a minute late. Having an investigator on house arrest is the greatest thing ever! He never misses any of our appointments! :) He really is legit though so I'm excited to see how the gospel will bless his life.
Unfortunetly we haven't heard from Riley in a while. She ditched us at our appointment and she hasn't returned our calls. It's always hard to see someone like that come so close but still so far. We'll still try her occasionally but we mostly have faith that missionaries will find her later on when she is more prepared to hear the gospel.
I love you all!
Love
Elder Jergensen
P.S. Did you ever hear back from President Jergensen?
