Zac's Letter: March 15, 2010

Hey Family!

That is too bad to hear about the girls loosing the first round in church ball.  I have to say I'm a little disappointed, haha!  Our big p day zone basketball tournament is today so hopefully we fair better then Madi did.  It should be a blast either way though.  I loved the bread that mom sent out this week and the razor refills work great, just so you know.

The highlight of this past week was setting a baptismal date with Amber Buekema for April 10!  I don't know if I've told you a whole lot about Amber but she is just a trooper.  We didn't think she was very serious about this all so we have put her through the ringer and yet she keeps progressing.  She keeps her commitments and came to church yesterday for the second time.  She is 22 and has a 9 month old son named Dakota.  She recently went through a divorce that she is pretty bitter about.  At first she just wanted to complain about her life to us but she has gotten a ton better now.  We have seen her totally transform as she has started living the gospel.

Another highlight was seeing the Espinosa's this past week.  We started teaching Alexis, Jessyca's 10 year old niece, and she just eats it up.  She is way smart too.  We gave her a comic book Book of Mormon and she was looking through it at the story of the Brother of Jared and she recognized the tower of Babel from the Bible and already knew that story.  She was so excited to read the rest of that.  We are seeing them again this week where we hope to start teaching Alexis' parents as well.

Yesterday we had a crazy church experience kinda like you guys.  I think most of the ward forgot about day light savings so we had like half of the normal attendance.  Then the member who was suppose to pick up Amber for church got sick and couldn't make it.  This left us scrambling to find her a ride.  We finally got her to church at like 9:30.  Once finally got settled in, we found that the microphone on the pulpit wasn't working so the speakers were forced to yell their talks.  Overall it was quite an entertaining meeting.

One sad thing this week was seeing this inactive member named Carrie Spring.  She is 21 and moved out here from Reno to live with her boyfriend.  We finally caught up with her and taught them.  It sounds like her parents kept very tight tabs on her so she finally lost it and moved out here with her boyfriend.  Now neither of them really believe in God and really aren't going anywhere in life.  We had a good lesson with them and everything but they just aren't even willing to try reading the Book of Mormon or praying or anything.  It's hard to see someone who had the truth and now just throws their life away.  Sometimes I wish we could just do Satan's plan and force people down the right path, haha.

I'm so grateful for you guys, mom and dad, and how well you raised us.  Our family is the best.  It's so amazing how we have all been able to stay so close and so involved in the church.  I now see how much of a blessing this has been for us.  I love you all!!

Love

P.S.  This is transfer week so I'll shoot you an email next Wednesday about what goes down.  I really have no idea what to expect on this one.
