Zac's Letter: April 25, 2010

Hey Family!

Things have been crazy yet again this week.  This whole week we were on exchanges.  We went with the Des Moines ZL's Tuesday, Oskaloosa Wednesday, Iowa City Thursday, and Cedar Rapids Friday and Saturday.  There are some tight zone leaders out there so it was way fun to serve with a bunch of them for a day.  It also involved a lot of driving.  I really like the road trips out here.  Elder Blanchard has a bunch of talks on cd so we listen to them and have deep discussions.

The only problem with exchange week is that it wears you out.  Every companionship wants to stay up late and talk and then get up early to play basketball.  Then during the day we go all out.  So now I'm just beat.

I had a lot of interesting experiences on all these exchanges.  The Des Moines ZL's are spanish Elders so I spent all day sitting through lessons where I had no idea what was going on.  Every once in a while I would throw in a "Yo se que Jesus Cristo vive" but that was about it.  We ate dinner at this Mexican family's house where they fed us and the whole family just sat around and watched us eat because they were so poor.  It was sad but cool to see how dedicated they are to the church.

Oskaloosa is a small town but we were still able to find some cool people.  Cedar Rapids is a huge city and we spent all day down on the ghetto side talking to my Black brothers.

My favorite was being able to go on exchanges in Iowa City to my old area.  Because a missionary went home early the ZL's are in a threesome with the YSA Elders so we got to do some YSA work just like my good old days.  I also went by and visited Erik Harmon who is still doing so good.  Erik got baptized while I was there and he is still staying strong.  He is still single but plans on moving out to Arizona this summer so he should be married in the temple in no time.  If he hasn't moved before you all come out here he really wants to meet all you guys.

Speaking of which, Todd and Jenny Koch want to know when exactly we are going to go to Nauvoo and do the temple and all that.  They really want to go with us.  Todd has now received the Melchizedek Priesthood and they both got patriarchal blessings.  Their baby is due May 7th and Todd is going to bless their baby June 5.  They are both so amazing!  So when are we going to be in Nauvoo?

Well that's about all for my week.  Way to run the 5k Dean Bean!  I'm sure you are probably faster then me now.  How was prom for Alexis?  Fill me in on all the details!  Love you all!

Love

Elder Jergensen

P.S.  Where do you guys think the Book of Mormon took place?  The big mission debate is whether it took place in North or South America.  The archeological evidence seems to point to South/Central America but scriptures make it seem like it took place in North America.  I'm curious to hear what you all think...
