Zac's Letter: May 15, 2010

Hey Family!

How is everything on the homefront?  I LOVED talking to all of you on Sunday!  That was such a treat.  It was so fun being able to talk with Tyson too!  It's so fun being able to talk with him about his mission and being able to relate with him so much even though our missions are so far apart geographically.  I'm really excited to be able to talk to Dad more about his mission some time too.  I made another movie on my camera especially for Baby Tys.  Me and some other Elders made an apartment tour movie just to show how "rough" we have it.  I'll send it to you soon and you need to make sure Tyson gets to see it sometime.  It is 5 minutes of pure greasiness!  Speaking of which, is there anyway you could email me that apartment movie that Tyson made?

Alexis, I have no idea what that question was talking about on your AP bio test.  I hope you got a good score.  When do you find out what you got on all these tests?  That doesn't make me want to go back to school at all.  All I know these days is that I've been saved.

It sounds like everything else is going well back home.  Babies are still babies and everything.  I really liked Dad's talk.  Whenever I think of that topic I think of Mosiah 2:41.  It seems so simple but it's amazing how the basics of the gospel (prayer, scripture study, church, etc.) make all the difference.  Everyone I have seen out here who has fallen away from the church has left one or more of those things out.  And then because of the "easiness of the way" they are too prideful to do those things and never regain the testimony they once had.

This past week was full of Zone Conferences, only to be followed by many more this coming week.  The training this transfer is on teaching.  Nobody in the mission knows how to teach.  As we go over this training I realize that there are so many things that I need to change in my own teaching.  The big focus is on teaching to people's needs and not just reading PMG to them.  Another big change is that President Talbot wants us to commit people to a baptismal date the very first time we teach them.  I had a hard time accepting this at first but as we practice it more and more I really think it's what the Lord wants.  We are here to represent Jesus Christ and last time I checked Christ never beat around the bush.  He came and cried repentance and commanded all to follow him and be baptized.

All this training is really exciting stuff and Elder Blanchard and I are eager to have the opportunity to actually use it in our own area before we have to hit the road again and do more zone conferences.  We had Zone Leader Council Tuesday, Sioux City Zone conference Thursday and Des Moines Zone conference yesterday.  Our next Zone conference is Tuesday and then we are gone for the rest of the week so we don't have a ton of time to work our area but we are going to take advantage of this weekend for sure.

We still interview each of the companionships only now they roll play to us instead of us going over their area books and planners.  I like it this way a ton more.  Area books are lame but we can have a good time with the roll plays.  So this next week is a crazy one but I love it.  I love you all!

Love
Elder Jergensen
