Tyson's Letter: April 2, 2010

Hola mi familia!
Goodness I cannot believe I leave on Monday and will get to talk to you jokers! I am so excited! Unfortunately, only half of the elders in our district got their visas so only half of us get to leave on Monday. Luckily, I am one of the ones leaving. All of us going to Merida, Elder Gubler, Drussel, and me, are leaving and then Elder Monroe who somehow got through the system to go to Mexico City. Here's how Monday is going to be. We leave the MTC at 3 in the morning and catch a 6:00 am flight to Dallas. I will probably call you from the Dallas airport around 10, so be ready!! Around 12:15, I catch another flight to Mexico City and we get there at like 4 (I think. I left my travel plans in my dorm so this is a little estimated, but i know I am at Dallas from 10-12:15) Then we go on a mexican airline to Merida and get there around 6:45. This is so weird, but I can't wait! It is perfect that it is conference weekend because that gives me tons of time to pack and get everything ready to go.

I don't have the Quist's address, but they sent me another package so tell them thanks! They are the best! I am saving the fudge egg they sent me for my big going away party on Saturday night!
Momma Bryan also sent me a dear elder updating me on Elder Bryan in Argentina! He is going to be so great! This last week has been sad without him, but I have been super busy anyways! He is such a stud. Before he left, we hung out a ton at night and got some pictures. He has been such a sweet friend to me and I am excited for the day we are back at BYU, but at the same time I don't want that day to come too fast. It is weird actually being separated from him now, but this is seriously the best work in the world! I have never done anything that feels so fulfilling, and I haven't even gone to the field yet! Preparing to bring people to Christ has been amazing, so I can't even imagine doing it for reals! I have only been out for like 8 1/2 weeks but it seems like this is all I know. The MTC has just become my home, it is weird to explain.

Well as for the "man in the wall," I don't even know what to tell you. Luckily dad is up to 92.5% so that man doesn't stand a chance in our house.

Thank you so much for the packages! I have quite the stash for our going away party and then for the plane rides! I hope Maddie learned a valuable lesson from eating my cookies! Hopefully she will think twice next time. Ha jk at least she wrote me. Goodness, I am gone 8 1/2 weeks and I am just waiting for Alexis to send me a Dear John or something. She has already replace me with Carsen! What the junk!? As punishment for the lack of letters this week, I only am talking to Maddie and mom on Monday! They are my only faithful support from the family. Ha jk I love getting your letters, but I don't depend on them like the rest of the elders here. I just love every single day here.

As I have started doing all of my "lasts," like last temple session in english, last class period, last gym, last pday, and everything, it seems so weird to me how long I have been here. I vividly remember the first 4 days, but the last 8 weeks have seemed like one day that has blurred together. Every Wednesday it feels like it is my first day here. These last two weeks, our district has gotten to host the new elders. That is one of the saddest and funniest experiences ever. Just seeing the drop off from the other side of the spectrum. However, it makes me relive the day you all dropped me off and remember how hard that day was, but realizing how much I love it here now.

Well sorry I didn't have a whole lot going on this week to report. I will send one last package home with stuff for you and stuff I can't take with me! I will probably send it off today, so I guess it will get there early next week! Thanks for everything. I think you still have my other memory card (hopefully you got that) so I guess just give it to one of the greasy girls and I am sure I can make do with the two that I still have! I love you all and can't wait to talk to you on Monday!!

Love,
Elder Jergensen
