Zac's Letter: April 3, 2010

Hey family!

I hope you all are enjoying General Conference because I'm loving it!  I'll try to quickly fill you in on my week before I have to take off again for Priesthood session.  Dad asked what we do as AP's here so I'll tell you a little about how it works.

We have the whole transfer already planned out.  For the first part we work on transfers.  Then we work on the training for zone leader council and for the zone conferences.  I've done up to that part so now for this past week and this next week we have zone conferences where we do the training.  Elder Blanchard says this is his favorite part because we get to meet all the missionaries.  We also interview each companionship on their planners and area book.  That gets kinda old but I love getting to know all the missionaries out here!

After zone conferences are over we go on exchanges with all of the zone leaders.  There are 7 zones so that takes about a week and a half or so with all of the travel time.  Then basically we start working on transfers again and start it all over from what I understand.  With how spread out the mission is, we spend a lot of time on the road.  We have an area that is puncy so we work there when we can which isn't very often.  We basically have one investigator who I haven't really taught yet but just met.  It's hard to work our area with how much we are gone.  It's also hard to get people progressing when we can only see them once every two weeks.  So for the most part when we do have a free evening we go on exchanges with one of the Des Moines companionships.

I'm still learning how the whole AP thing works though but that's about how it's been so far.  This past week we have done the Sioux City and Des Moines zone conferences.  Sioux City is a 3 hour drive from here.  We drove up with President and Sister Talbot so it was so cool to be able to talk with them for that long and get to know them better.  They are so amazing!  President Talbot has an amazing story that I'm picking up piece by piece.  His dad was less active and he was less active for a long time and then just really turned it around.  I'll fill you in on more of his story later because we have to run to Priesthood session now.  I love you guys and sorry you get jipped this week on my email.

Love

Elder Jergensen
