I made it to Mexico. After I talked to you, we flew to the mexico city airport and let me just say that was a humbling experience. I will admit that I was so scared about my mission after being so lost at that aiport and not being able to communicate enough to get help. However, when we got here, everything was different. Mexican airport people are just like the ones in the US... ornery. ha the people here are so sweet and the other elders and my president are the coolest ever.
President Cardenas took us all out to dinner at a pretty nice buffet, so that was pretty sweet. he is so sweet and kind. he only speaks spanish so there is a slight barrier right now, but I can pretty well understand everything he says, but responding is a little slow. he says that the gift of tongues comes first with reading, then understanding, and then speaking. he said he can understand everything I say perfectly. However, I have so much more to say, but I dont know how to say it, so I dont.
Things are a little messed up with transfers for some reason, and I think it is because Elder Gubler doesn't have his visa so they are waiting for him to arrive. As for now, they have Elder Drussel and I tagging along with two other elders. They are way sweet, but one of them is the AP (ya things are weird for some reason and the APs aren't companions right now) so we have been in the office role playing all morning because the AP has tons of work to do with exchanges coming up.
Last night was super sweet. When we got back to the house that we will live in for probably the next two weeks, all the neighbor kids came running up and talked to us. I understood most of what they said, but responding was a little hard. I could have taught them the first lesson in a heart beat but it didnt seem appropriate. ha. then i spent my first night in a hammock and it was the best thing ever. The mission just started distributing the nice hammocks that mark has so I dont even have to go buy one. Mine is a queen size, which is just perfect, and is different shades of blue. Eventually, I might buy a custum one for me, but this one will get me through my whole mission. I love it. The other elders taught me how to get in it (put it over your face, fall back, and stretch out) and how to sleep in it, like how mark did. Granted, I was tired, but I slept like a rock! We had fans blowing on us all night, but it wasnt like uncomortably hot. I have absolutely no complaints and love this place. I love it here!
I wish so bad you all could see this, but you will just have to take my word that it is the best. unfortunately, we are in the nicest house in the mission right now, so things can only get worse, but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. The house is completely tiled. It has two bedrooms connected with a hallway closet and bathroom. Then it has a kitchen and dining room connected to the main room. It isn't up to the standard of living that you are all used to, but it is way nicer than I expect. The bathroom is a toilet and shower that have no divider or separation. Just like mark said, their is a drain in the center of the floor and after you finish showering, you just squeegy the floor into the drain.
I am not totally sure what else to tell you. My real pday will be on Mondays, I am pretty sure. We have zone conference today so I should meet my dad and find out a little more about what is going on. It is super hot, I am super thirsty and have no water, but I am loving every second. This is the best!
Oh and I got you package today. Someone had taken an exacto knife right through Jesus. I talked to the other elders and they said that pictures dont actually help. They said that the Mexicans will go through the mail no matter what, but they said they dont steal things out, or at least they havent had any problems with that. All of them say that this is a very safe mission, and they havent had any problems, so its all good. I cant wait to find out who my trainer is and where I am going! hasta lunes!
les amo!
Elder Jergensen
